Haghartsin Monastery Complex is one of the most beautiful medieval monasteries in Armenia. It is located in Tavush Province, deep within the forests of Dilijan National Park, surrounded by tall trees and picturesque mountains.
The monastery complex was mainly developed between the 10th and 13th centuries. Haghartsin flourished particularly during the 12th and 13th centuries, during the periods of the Bagratuni and Zakarian dynasties.
One of the main buildings of the complex is the Church of the Holy Mother of God, built in 1281 by the architect Minas. The complex also includes the churches of St. Gregory and St. Stepanos, a gavit, and other medieval structures.
Haghartsin is famous not only for its architecture but also for its breathtaking natural surroundings. The road to the monastery passes through dense forests, while the monastery itself has a peaceful and almost mystical atmosphere.
