Musaler

The Musa Ler Memorial Complex is located in the village of Musaler, in Armenia’s Armavir Province, not far from Yerevan. It is dedicated to the memory of the participants and victims of the heroic defense of Musa Dagh in 1915.

During the Armenian Genocide in 1915, the Armenian population of the Musa Dagh region refused to be deported and decided to organize their own defense. Around 4,000–5,000 Armenians resisted the Ottoman forces for more than a month. Eventually, they were rescued by French ships and transported to Egypt.

The central part of the memorial is shaped like the bow of a ship. It symbolizes the ships that helped save the Armenians of Musa Dagh.

The complex also includes a museum displaying the history of the heroic defense of Musa Dagh, as well as photographs, documents, and other materials related to these events.

Every September, traditional commemorative events are held here in honor of the heroic defense of Musa Dagh. People gather to remember their ancestors, their struggle, courage, and survival.

The Musa Ler Memorial Complex is not only a historical site, but also a symbol of resistance, unity, and the Armenian people’s will to survive.
