Why visit

Sevanavank ⛪🏔️

Sevanavank is one of the most famous and impressive monastic complexes in Armenia. It is located on a peninsula of Lake Sevan, at an elevation of approximately 1,900 meters above sea level. From the monastery, visitors can enjoy breathtaking views of Lake Sevan and the surrounding mountains.

The monastery complex was founded in the 9th century, in 874, by the Armenian princess Mariam. Originally, several churches were built here. Today, the most famous surviving churches are Surp Arakelots (Holy Apostles) and Surp Astvatsatsin (Holy Mother of God).

One of Sevanavank’s special features is its location. The monastery stands on a high peninsula, and visitors have to climb a staircase to reach it. From the top, a beautiful panoramic view of the lake opens up before you.

Sevanavank is not only an important historical and spiritual monument, but also a place where you can experience Armenian history, architecture, and the unique natural beauty of Lake Sevan all in one location.

📍 Sevanavank is an important stop on our tour, where you will discover Armenia’s medieval history and enjoy the spectacular panoramic views of Lake Sevan.
